Even though embarking on their first-ever continental campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. A further three points in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be enough to secure direct entry to the last 16, especially following a prior setback against Strasbourg.

This match provided a chance for some of Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second start after joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, finding the net for the second consecutive succession.
A Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season were outmatched even for a largely second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were further depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.

Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple tap-in.
Youngster Adam Wharton came close soon after, fizzing a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the referee dismissed the protests.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the visiting side.
