The Simpsons Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: Unfortunately Not the Car Fans Are Dreaming Of

We already knew that The Simpsons was teaming up with Fortnite, but that's not the only destination where enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the universe of Springfield. The beloved show is coming over to Rocket League, introducing an vehicle customization option that will also be compatible in Fortnite. However, if gamers will actually want to use it is a different matter, as there's only one Simpsons vehicle everyone is eager to get behind the wheel of, and this new offering isn't that one.

The Dream Vehicle

While many players would absolutely enjoy to compete while driving The Homer—the notoriously impractical car Homer designed himself in the 1991 installment "the one where he meets Herb"—that's not what's being offered. Not even receiving the massive SUV, the enormous vehicle showcased in the tenth season. Instead, players will obtain the family's everyday beat-up four-door, which has been in the family since the show's early days. Though this specific vehicle has accumulated plenty of miles, it remains an recognizable symbol of the series. For those who pay attention to the game's vehicle dimensions, the Simpson family car uses the same hitbox as the Dominus.

More Than Just a Car

And it's not the sole customization item from the show coming to the game. The event will also include a set of objectives to unlock more rewards, all of which are inspired by the show. According to a official announcement, the missions will task participants to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, collect boost pickups as if your GPS is set to the Simpson residence, and drive a distance worthy of picking up the ideal pastries!"

Although the complete list of earnable items isn't yet disclosed, here is what has been confirmed up to this point:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

If the key art is any indication, it seems fans will also get rims with a television displaying The Simpsons' title sequence, alien antenna toppers, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and boost effects inspired by smoldering rubber and Krusty's famous restaurant.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

The Rocket League collaboration lines up with the major The Simpsons invasion of Fortnite's island, which brings a brand-new playable area of the fictional town, as well as a month-long Battle Pass. This special Rocket League and Simpsons celebration launches on Saturday, Nov. 1 and ends on Nov. 17.
