Battlefield 6 Gamers Are Convinced: Missions Are Way Too Hard

The launch of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, especially for its premier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, concurrent player counts reached a high of nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, despite its popularity, many players are expressing frustration over a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are necessary to obtain particular firearms.

Gamers have begun turning to tailored sessions set up using Battlefield Portal to finish these tasks, underscoring just how demanding these assignments have become.

Grasping Battlefield 6 Objectives

Assignments are Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, as opposed to the periodically changed everyday and weekly missions. There are four classes of assignments, but while the majority only reward cosmetics and some tools, finishing the gun missions is the only way of obtaining twelve from the forty-one key firearms available in the game.

A number of these restricted firearms might eventually earn a place on rankings for the finest arms in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration on Reddit

Within Reddit, players are understandably voicing their concerns about how difficult and grindy some of these challenges are. A particular gamer pointed out one of the most extreme examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This task is so atrocious and totally unreasonable, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a statement that captures just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

The suppression feature in the game is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it lacks nearly as many benefits in combat as it used to in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

Additionally, hipfiring an LMG is highly imprecise and is effective only at very short distances, which isn't typically where you aim to be. That player also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that mission would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Overly Demanding Task

A different forum member pointed out an additional excessively hard challenge, within the long-range weapon type to unlock the PSR:

  • Achieve 150 headshot eliminations over 200m with long-range weapons

This is challenging enough as it is, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at such a long range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but given there are merely nine maps in the game at present, it restricts you to playing one of the larger locales, a particular valley environment, and maybe an additional option in a best-case scenario if you want to snipe from beyond 200 meters.

The Bypass

There is a workaround though: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a system that permits you to make custom game modes on the battleground of your choice, featuring computer-controlled players. This means you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the spirit of the game.

Yet, if doing the challenges in a normal session seems counterproductive, since you have to play in such an unconventional way that doesn't benefit you or your team, is it surprising for completing them in a custom game so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Future Adjustments

It should not be shocking if several of these tasks are toned down in the next few updates, because should they remain unchanged, a portion of the user base simply will never acquire the gated weapons.

For now, the player base continues to express their views on these demanding battlefield assignments, expecting a more balanced gaming experience in future updates.
